Q: What is SORA? (Overdrive)

A: SORA is a database of electronic books (e-books) you can check out provided by our school and the public county library system. There are thousands of titles available. Log in with your school account on the website or download the app. Getting access to the public library is as simple. Just add 'Salt Lake County Library Services' to your profile.

Q: How do I pay an overdue fine?

A: See a librarian, pay on your school account (MySchoolBucks or Powerschool), or pay at student services. Overdue fines are $0.25/day.

Q: I lost a book, what now?

A: Please see a librarian or call and let us know. You will be charged the replacement cost. If you find the book and turn it in, the fee will be returned.

Q: Can I eat my lunch in the library?

A: Please do not bring your lunch or other food into the library. We need to keep our space clean and protect our books from damage. Thanks!

Q: Where can I find book suggestions? Or recommendations based on other titles I have liked?

A: Novelist Plus is a fantastic resource and can be accessed through Utah's Online Library.

Meet the JDCHS Librarians!

Sharon Phelps

Librarian

sharonphelps@skaggscatholiccenter.org Ext. 7620

I love being a Librarian at the JDCHS / S]BMS Library! I earned my BSE from the University of Kansas, and my MLS from Indiana University. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Leon, and I am the proud mother to two Juan Diego graduates, Amanda (2006) and Lauren (2011). Prior to moving to Utah, we lived in Colorado, Indiana, Wyoming, and Kansas where I worked in various schools and libraries. I enjoy reading a variety of genres, including nonfiction books about my hobbies including gardening, repurposing, quilting and soapmaking. Come see me in the Library whenever you need a book recommendation or if you want to collaborate on a class research project! I am always happy to help!

I grew up in West Jordan and have lived in Utah my entire life. I am married with one daughter attending S]BE. We also have two crazy bird dogs, a 20-year-old grumpy cat, and a rather pushy but affectionate Quarter Horse. I have a B.A. in English from Westminster College and I worked in the bookselling world for 13 years after college. I love Victorian-era British Literature as well as science fiction and fantasy. I also enjoy camping, fishing, horseback riding, hiking and spending time on my family's 5th generation ranch in Idaho. I'm happy to be in the Library at Juan Diego and love helping students find books that they can really enjoy!
